Mad Maxie (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798232099442)

As a private investigations agent (don't call her a PI!), Maxie Peterson has survived crooks, con men, murderers, and rolling-pin-wielding old ladies, but now her mom wants her to...babysit?

Worse, the kid-a potty-mouthed twelve-year-old with a bright brain and a bad attitude-comes complete with a shedding, drooling dog the size of a horse who's perfectly willing to eat anyone she thinks is threatening her girl, starting with Maxie.

While Theo (the kid) sulks and Igor (the dog) sheds, drools, and keeps a sharp eye on Maxie, Maxie finds herself tracking down a missing housekeeper, fighting off armed home invaders, searching for international art thieves, and trying to avoid hunky homicide Detective Ben Trueblood, who's happy to lock up all three of them if it will keep them away from his investigation and out of danger.

The trouble is, nobody's reckoning with Maxie's looney fairy godmother Amelia, who's happily turning her talent for mayhem into a whole new approach to crime fighting!
