Laura Motherway is an author, writer, and poet based in Perth, Western Australia. A graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), she holds a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts and has worked as a singer, improviser, actor, and director. With more than 20 years of experience designing and delivering children's programs in pediatric hospitals and the arts sector, she is passionate about creativity, play, and ensuring all children have access to quality literature.
She is trained in Infant Mental Health, Early Child Self-Regulation, innovation methodologies, and corporate leadership. Currently working in arts management, Laura is a strong advocate for Western Australia's cultural sector and for the wider adoption of creative learning approaches in education.
An engaging public speaker and facilitator, she has presented at REMIX Summit, the Leading Creative Schools Conference (University of NSW), EduFest WA, ReimaginED Conference, and the National Gallery of Australia's Visual Arts Educators Conference.
Laura writes poetry, short stories, flash fiction, and picture books, and her work has been published by Hachette Australia, Five Mile Press, Rhiza Edge, Night Parrot Press, and The School Magazine.
