Four centuries of history become animated through a sumptuous and original European tour, which sheds light on its sovereigns and their splendor.
To illustrate this ambitious undertaking, seven hundred exceptional works of art--portraits, sculptures, furniture, porcelain, silver and gold, costumes and jewelry--taken from royal collections and prestigious institutions, enable the reader to discover the lives, roles, and passions of these individuals and couples, as well as their time and accomplishments in the fields of the arts, history and science.
Catherine Arminjon, heritage curator, is the organizer of the exhibition and also of many other exhibitions about monarchy in Europe, such as Versailles and the royal tables in Europe (RMN, 1993). Patricia Bouchenot-Déchin, deputy curator of the exhibition, is an art historian and researcher for the Research Center of Versailles Castle. She is also assistant organizer of the exhibition Magnificence in Saxony's Court. Wilfried Zeisler holds a PhD in the history of art.
