Make Them Answer: The A.R.E. Method for Getting Heard and Getting Results from Doctors, Insurers, Government Agencies, Employers, and Other Powerful S (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798191817347)

Nineteen out of twenty people give up. That is your advantage.

Insurers deny roughly one in five in-network claims. Consumers appeal

fewer than one percent of them. When people appeal, a large share

of those denials get reversed; by the same company that just said no.

The gap between how often people fight and how often fighting works is

the most valuable unclaimed asset in your life. Make Them Answer

is the field manual for claiming it.

You are not facing a wall of indifference. You are facing a flowchart; and flowcharts have documented weak points. This book turns those weak points into a three-step routine you can run without a law degree:

Build a request so specific it cannot be filed under miscellaneous.

Keep a file better than theirs. It is easier than you think and it wins.

Climb the ladder on a schedule, until you reach someone whose job depends on resolving it.

for every major system, with the real names of the departments.

which free advocate including the congressional caseworker almost

nobody knows to call.

Twenty-four Hartman's Laws one-sentence rules for the moment you

are too tired to remember a chapter.

Every statistic comes from public federal and nonprofit sources, cited

chapter by chapter. Written for professionals, in plain English, with a

dry sense of humor about a system that has earned it.

You were not being difficult. You were being ignored. There is a

difference, and it matters.
