Mastrodicasa/Master of the House: Mastrodicasa/Master of the House (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781969237324)

Mastrodicasa - Master of the House is an epic historical saga that follows two prominent Italian families, the Mastrodicasas and the Tedescos, through the turmoil of Mussolini's fascist regime and the Nazi invasion of Italy. Loberti uses "ancestral whispers" from his own family history, interviews with elders and his vivid dreams to create this thriller. As a result, this is not your Grandma's war story, but rather a compelling look at a diverse set of characters and their firm resistance to authoritarian power. Nuances, codes and embedded symbolism are all richly woven into the plot.

At its heart are Luca Mastrodicasa, a royal Roman Catholic and Sofia Tedesco, a Jewish aristocrat, whose love defies the boundaries of religion and class. Their union, however, places both families in grave danger during a time when propaganda, fear, and betrayal rule the streets of Italy. The novel offers a rare glimpse at Italian Jews and their role in the Italian Resistance.

From the glamour of Venetian high society to the horror of concentration camps, the novel weaves tales of resistance, forbidden love, loss, and courage. Women emerge as quiet, yet fierce powerhouses, guiding families through chaos, rebellion, and moral reckoning.

The plots revolve around historical turning points creating high stakes and adventure, while emphasizing themes of enduring humans emotions. Exciting themes as Operation Inferno, a daring mission to capture Hitler and Mussolini, LGBT relationships, the integration of Dante's Divine Comedy, religion as a compelling force in politics and relationships, and the generational echoes of war, all make this a sweeping exploration of family, faith, and resilience in the darkest of times.

The story concludes decades later with the haunting discovery that Hitler's legacy may not have ended with his death, hinting at chilling future conflicts.
