He is deeply serious about writing for children. Apart from hugely popular film songs, he has written many charming books, including the multi-volume Bosky's Panchatantra. Mera Kuchh Saamaan was his first collection of film lyrics, and Chhaiyya-Chhaiyya the second. Kharashen is a dramatic work. He wrote screenplays for Meera, Khushboo, Aandhi, and many other films. Albums such as Sunset Point, Visal, Vaada, Boodhe Pahaadon Par, and Marasim mark different phases of his creative journey, along with Fiza and Filhaal. This represents a new stage in his artistic evolution.
