Vinnie was born in Stafford, England in 1925 and was educated at St. Patrick's Elementary School and the College of Technology in that same town. He was enlisted into the Royal Regiment of Artillery at the age of 18 and served in India. He immigrated to Canada in 1965 and now lives in Guelph, Ontario.
