Memoirs of an Old Fart: Tales I've Told So Often I'm Beginning To Believe Them Myself (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9798240865022)

What do you get when you cross a Navy diver, a newsroom junkie, a sailing captain, a family man, and a stubbornly unapologetic old fart? You get this book a life lived at full throttle, told with grit, humor, and zero sugarcoating. From small-town beginnings to high-school brawls in Utah, from the claustrophobic silence of submarines during Vietnam to the chaos of Miami's cocaine-cowboy era newsrooms, from cross-country road trips at 150 miles an hour to Bahamian waters where boy scouts learned to scrub decks and tie knots under his command-these are the stories of a man who refused to live life in half-measure. Part coming-of-age odyssey, part war story, part newsroom confession, and part sailing log, Memoirs of an Old Fart takes readers on a wild ride across decades and oceans. Along the way are brushes with danger, love, loss, pets both ordinary and absurd (including a rattlesnake, a seagull, and an iguana named Captain Jack), and more than a few wrong turns that somehow led to the right places. Witty, irreverent, and always brutally honest, this isn't a book about being perfect. It's a book about rolling the dice, grabbing the wheel, hoisting the sails, and yelling "what a ride!"- even when the landing is less than graceful. If you've ever wondered what it's like to live a life full of speed, saltwater, ink-stained fingers, and a few questionable decisions, pull up a chair. The Old Fart has a story for you.
