Pamela J. Kalbfleisch is professor in the Department of Communication at the University of North Dakota. She has served as editor of the International Communication Association scholarly book series Communication Yearbook (Volumes 27, 28 & 29) and edited the Journal of Native Aging and Health. She has co-edited two scholarly books, Interpersonal Communication: Evolving Interpersonal Relationships, and Gender, Power and Communication in Human Relationships (Michael J. Cody co-editor). Kalbfleisch has published broadly in interpersonal communication and human relationships. She is best known for her research on communication between mentors and proteges, Mentoring Enactment Theory, and her research on detecting deceptive communication.
