Mercy Flight Over Red Mars: When Rivals Turn the Same Key (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798268817225)

In 2089 a joint rover in Valles Marineris uncovers Helionite, a crystal that can power cities and starships with near limitless clean energy. The leak of that discovery tears open a three-world conflict: orbital skirmishes over Earth, railgun duels at the Moon's south pole, and armored walkers striding across the red sands of Mars.

Captain Naomi Reyes-Cai flies Mercy Flight, a rescue ship that holds a corridor open when fear says close it. Beside her stand Brother Ansel, a monk-engineer who writes sabbath into steel, Major Abram Okoye, a peacekeeper who believes in stubborn mercy, and Tatiana Sokolov, a former enemy learning a new grammar of honor. Across the line, Captain Wei Lin of Kunlun and a weary admiral on the far side of the war must decide what kind of courage their grandchildren will inherit.

As Olympus Mons becomes a battlefield and Shackleton Crater braces under siege, a quiet covenant begins to rise: three keys for ignition, engines that rest so people can live, power shared instead of hoarded. The Solar Accord will either end the race for Helionite or ignite it forever.

This is a space opera of corridors and conscience, of saboteurs and saints, of bread passed across barricades. It is also a story about faith that keeps time when alarms scream, forgiveness that refuses to be theatrical, and hope practiced in small, costly choices.

Will mercy become more than a word before the last switch is thrown? Will enemies learn to turn the key together? Step into a future where cathedrals are carved in canyon walls and prayer sounds like a ship saying yes to restraint. Let power be a servant. Let mercy be a plan. Let us be trusted with fire.

About the Author

Dr. David K. Ewen is an ordained minister whose life and calling have been deeply shaped by faith, education, and a lifelong fascination with the heavens. As a child, he stood among millions who watched history unfold in 1969, when humanity first set foot on the Moon. A few years later, with wonder in his eyes and a telescope in hand, he tracked America's first space station, Skylab, as it sailed across the night sky. Those moments sparked a passion that has never faded-a passion for both the mysteries of creation and the God who made them.

Dr. Ewen's journey has been one of teaching and ministry, guiding others to wisdom, truth, and grace. His work in education has touched lives around the world, while his ministry has sought to bring light to those walking through life's deepest questions. His name even journeys beyond Earth, etched into history on a silicon chip aboard NASA's Perseverance rover, which launched in 2020 and touched down in Jezero Crater on Mars in 2021.

With this book, Dr. Ewen unites his lifelong love of space exploration with his devotion to sharing the message of hope, redemption, and the abiding presence of God. His voice as both minister and storyteller invites readers not only to dream of the stars but also to see in them the reflection of a Creator who calls each of us by name.
