Lara Sanders Chew is a storyteller, folklorist and naturalist. Although she has told stories to children as well as adults for many years, this is only her second published work. She recently retired from teaching and lives with her husband Paul in western NC. They live off the grid in a 150 year old log cabin, surrounded by fifty acres of beautiful woods and cold mountain streams. They have established the Coweeta Heritage Center, where young people come from many states and countries to work as interns and learn wild crafting, storytelling, sustainable living, organic gardening and other heritage skills. Lara has published two other books: How Gray Goose Saved Christmas and Over the Mountain to Borrow a Coal of Fire.
