Money for Mayhem (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9798349627743)

Covert operations have commanders, and terrorist attacks have masterminds, but behind both there's usually someone with money and power. Alan Conferra is neither. He's just a Capitol Hill bureaucrat. It's his job is to find out who has been funding a string of worldwide terrorist attacks. Working with bankers, politicians, spies, and people in government organizations that officially don't exist, Alan moves from cubicle to warzones. The most dangerous place he ever goes isn't a burning desert, a steaming jungle in Africa, or a high mountain in Switzerland. It's Cleveland, Ohio.

Money for Mayhem is a historical fiction, action-thriller set around real world events from 1922-2005. This is a story of more than money. It's about love, revenge, duty, and facing personal fears. It shows how numbers on a spreadsheet have very real world consequences for all of us.

What would you do if you had dump trucks loaded with gold bars from Saddam's liberated Iraq? Alan Conferra, a low level Washington DC bureaucrat found himself in exactly that situation. Most people would retire to lavish lifestyles, but Alan, an accountant down to his bones, dispersed the gold, invested it, and used the proceeds as loans to people suffering from natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and wars. It was around this time when Alan discovered that almost every terrorist attacks around the world was funded by one man, Sheik Ibn al Tunb.

The Sheik's family was ousted from their home in 1979, and he's spent his life searching for something that will restore his family to dominance in the Persian Gulf. Sometimes this quest means turning to terrorism as a means of getting into some of the world's most secure locations.
