"Mormonism Exposed: The Constitution and the Territories. A Lawyer's View" by Richard W. Young offers a critical legal perspective on Mormonism's place within the framework of the United States Constitution, particularly concerning the governance of territories. Written from a lawyer's viewpoint, this work delves into the constitutional issues raised by the practices and governance structures of the Mormon community during the 19th century. The book provides an insightful examination of the legal and political challenges posed by the Mormon presence in the territories, making it a valuable resource for understanding a significant chapter in American religious and legal history. It explores the tensions between religious freedom, federal authority, and territorial self-governance, inviting readers to reflect on the enduring complexities of these issues.
