In 1970, Women's Liberation was sweeping the country. This book is based on research of the Women's Building archives housed at the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Historical Society. Playwright MERCILEE M. JENKINS, Professor of Communication at S.F. State University, worked with students and other volunteers to collect oral histories from founders. These stories inspired the play She Rises Like a Building to the Sky, produced as part of the Building's 25th anniversary celebrations.
