Born in Haiti, Bathélemy Bolivar is a teacher, poet and essayist living in Winnipeg, where he has been based since 2002. He was awarded the Prix littéraire Rue-Deschambault for his first volume of poetry, Manguiers têtus (Éditions du Blé, 2005). In 2007, he published a second collection of poems, Rebondir (Éditions d'Art Le Sabord). He is currently enrolled in a PhD program in math and science education at the University of Manitoba. All proceeds of sales from this book, the theme of which is the earthquake of January 12, 2010, will be allocated to an ambitious distance education project to support reconstruction efforts in Haiti. Il poursuit actuellement un doctorat en didactique des sciences et des mathématiques à l'Université du Manitoba. Les profits recueillis, de la vente de ce recueil de poésie traitant entièrement le tremblement de terre du 12 janvier 2010, seront alloués à un vaste projet d'éducation à distance pour soutenir les initiatives de reconstruction d'Haïti.
