On a balmy summer night in 1947, just after rainfall, two lovers strolled down Cherokee Street in St. Louis, Missouri, hand-in-hand. A bustling business street by day, closed afterhours shops by night.
The girl remarked: "Look at those slippers in the window. Aren't they cute?"
"Yeah, Honeybugs. You're my Honeybug," he replied.
"Well you're my Honeybug, too." She was quick to reply.
This collection of poetry is dedicated to the author's own "Honeybug," Patricia Maxine Heagy, who passed away in December of 2012.
About the Author
Phil Heagy was married to his wife, Patricia, for sixty-two years before her passing. She was his biggest champion, editor, and critic. Besides writing poetry, he enjoys photography, tending roses and orchids, and computers.
