My Life: An Attempt at an Autobiography (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781025854618)

"My Life: An Attempt at an Autobiography" is the definitive memoir of Leon Trotsky, one of the most influential and controversial figures of the 20th century. Written during his exile in Turkey, this work offers a comprehensive and compelling account of Trotsky's journey from a young revolutionary intellectual to a leading architect of the Russian Revolution. The narrative provides an intimate look at the formation of the Bolshevik party, the strategic maneuvers of the October Revolution, and Trotsky's pivotal role in founding and leading the Red Army.

The book delves deeply into the ideological debates that shaped the early Soviet state, including Trotsky's partnership with Vladimir Lenin and his subsequent power struggle with Joseph Stalin. Through his sharp, analytical prose, Trotsky defends his vision of permanent revolution and reflects on the successes and failures of the global socialist movement. "My Life: An Attempt at an Autobiography" is more than just a personal history; it is a critical historical document that illuminates the complex dynamics of revolutionary politics and the personal sacrifices required by those at the center of world-changing events. It remains an essential read for anyone seeking to understand the intellectual and political currents that defined the modern era.
