If children had their way, would Christian theology be any different? And if their good news turned out to be completely new, would it be welcomed or condemned? Our youngsters are ready to take on the project and perhaps even restore a voice that was silenced so long ago.
Nonfiction content: It's one thing to pick a single verse and build a sermon around it, but quite another to gather an extensive collection of Christ's teachings and assemble one coherent story from all the mysterious pieces. This book does the latter. So a mild caution is in order here since this approach may be quite a departure from traditional interpretation. But if you are open-minded and enjoy simple common sense, it should be a surprising and enjoyable ride.
Granted, the characters in this story are young, but don't for a moment underestimate their theological skills. Philip is determined to get it right, and his pre-school little sister lends support and some rather eye opening insights of her own. If the kids get stuck, mom and dad are there to get them through the really difficult sections. A well traveled professional father helps raise this comprehensive interpretation to a whole new level in the closing chapters.
Some history on this work: The first bit of professional advice given to the author started with the comment "You sure do cover a lot of ground in here." That was followed by the suggestion that it be broken up into a series of books. This was almost 10 years ago. Since then, none of the content was deleted, but each section was organized and refined in such a way that it just had to go out under one title and in one tight package.
