Myths and Myth Makers (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781162569413)

Myths and Myth Makers is a book written by John Fiske that explores the origins and development of myths throughout history. The book is divided into two parts, the first of which examines the myths of ancient cultures such as the Greeks, Egyptians, and Scandinavians. Fiske delves into the symbolism and meaning behind these myths, and how they were used to explain natural phenomena and human behavior. The second part of the book focuses on more contemporary myths, such as those surrounding religion, science, and politics. Fiske argues that these modern myths are just as powerful and influential as the ancient ones, and that they continue to shape our understanding of the world around us.Throughout the book, Fiske emphasizes the importance of understanding the role of mythology in human culture and history. He argues that myths are not just fanciful stories, but rather essential components of our collective consciousness and identity.Myths and Myth Makers is a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of the power of myth and its enduring influence on human thought and behavior.
