Alfred Bäumler, who was appointed in 1933 as a full professor to the newly established Chair of Political Pedagogy in Berlin and served on the Higher Education Commission from 1934, drew heavily in the work presented here on the concept of the whole man as a unity of body, soul, and spirit. The work, consisting of lectures and essays on a variety of subjects ranging from the Great War, physical training and modern soldiery to education, science and the Political Man, became a significant influence on German education policy.
