Compelled to search for his blackmaned colt, the sire of Naythorn comes upon a newborn foal. The two become protected by converts to the cause of the blackmane. The rescue of a boy and girl fortunately leads to an alliance between Naythorn and the children's grandfather, Chief Walking Tree.
