Daniel Shanahan is Professor of Communication at the Humanities Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He received his PhD from Stanford, and was twice Senior Fulbright Lecturer in American Studies, once in Yugoslavia and once in Czechoslovakia. He has served on the faculties of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales in Paris and the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California, and he has been visiting professor at universities in Canada, Poland and Austria. He is listed in current editions of Who`s Who in the World and The Dictionary of International Biography. Professor Shanahan's Waiting for Something that Never Arrived: Meditations on a Progressive America in Honor of Tony Judt was published by Togga Press in 2011; Togga also published his Sparky's Folks: A Tribute to the Life and Work of Charles Schulz in 2012. His Language, Feeling and the Brain was published by Transaction Publishers in 2007. His first book, Towards a Genealogy of Individualism, was published by the University of Massachusetts Press in 1992. His fiction has been published in the North Dakota Quarterly, and his other publications have appeared in such journals as Partisan Review, The Modern Language Journal, Papers on Language and Literature, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Los Angeles Times, The International Herald Tribune, and Vesmir. He is on the Editorial Board of Integrative Psychological and Behavioral Sciences. His work has been translated into Chinese, French, Czech and Croatian.
