"Papa this is why we moved huh? We had no choice, not only are the whales historic now, so is fishing, so is our heritage. I would have liked to be part of that life; I do not like to be apart from you. Can you imagine what it felt like for the whales, being separated from their pods, because of the noise, we are just like the whales, we were pushed away and replaced with something that changed us all, not only the ocean's mammals, but the way we used to live." Brett was saddened that he couldn't experience the same childhood as his dad did when he was young. He now understands why it was hard for his dad to come home to his hometown. It was a large reminder seeing the large propellers in the bay, where his boat once floated. It has all changed, the little bit of treasure left along the shores of Maine, was soon to be forgotten.
"No More Maine Lobsters?" tells a story of what "may be" or when it "will be". Downeast Maine is a treasure to so many, especially our coastal community families. Lobster fishing has been a heritage for generations and has supplied lobsters around the world. Offshore wind turbines are making their sweep across the United States, and not only affecting hundreds of ocean mammals as well as affecting many coastal families. We may not be able to change the world, but one try at a time, may allow our hidden treasure to stay alive.
