Nothing Resembles Me (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781923753372)

This collection stands as the tangible evidence of Nahed's commitment to engaging with the world on a deeply attentive level. Moving beyond the quiet observation that anchors her verse, this body of work invites the reader into the vast, intricate landscape of a lived experience shaped by life, love, memory, and the profound ache of exile.

Born from an appreciation for stillness and the careful curation of memory, the poems here are not just recordings; they are framed moments-quick, yet lasting impressions that resist the erosion of time. Nahed seeks the small, often overlooked truths that anchor existence, yet here, those anchors are often tethered to places left behind or people no longer near. The book maps the internal geography of displacement, where memory becomes both sanctuary and subtle burden.

In verse defined by clarity and emotional honesty, Nahed explores how love persists-whether as a vibrant echo from the past or a quiet presence in the present moment. The honesty is unflinching, capturing the precise feeling of being present in a state of in-betweenness. The exile described is not merely geographical; it is the universal human experience of standing slightly outside a moment, trying to hold onto its essence before it vanishes.

Each poem hones language to distill these complex emotions into singular, powerful insights. Whether observing a shared glance that transcends borders or the stark quiet of a solitary dawn, Nahed's work insists that profound beauty is not lost to separation or change. Instead, it is embedded within the ordinary details that one carries forward. This collection is an invitation to pause, reflect, and recognise the resilient architecture of the self built from everything remembered, everything loved, and everything carried across the miles.
