The stories related in this book are all true-life experiences. For the most part I have tried to emphasize the positive and sometimes humorous nature of these stories. Some I have shared with the several hundred medical students who through the years have spent their medical school family practice rotations in our clinic. Those rotations and these real-life stories have served to help everyone to better understand the nature and responsibilities of family practice in a rural community in which many of them will choose to live.
