About the Author The author is a former nurse with other 40 years of experience in health care, most of them practiced in surgical intensive care. Most of these were spent at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics, a transplant center; although part of them were spent at St Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital, a trauma center in New York City. Because mathematics came with difficulty to Ms Wilson as a child and young adult, she has maintained a life-long interest in it and continues to work mathematics problems as a "hobby." As she reports, "If you look at math problems as just a kind of 'puzzle, ' they seem less intimidating to you, and the more of them you work, the better you understand how the whole thing works."
