Oikonism: A Political Economy of Freedom Under Law (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798181876132)

What makes a free society endure?

Modern politics speaks endlessly of growth, rights, security, equality, and progress. Yet beneath that language lies a deeper uncertainty: what kind of moral, legal, and economic order allows free persons to build households, create wealth, bear responsibility, and restrain the power that claims to protect them?

Oikonism is a systematic work of political economy built around one central claim: freedom and prosperity can survive only under law, secure property, honest money, moral responsibility, and constitutional limits on power.

Drawing from classical political thought, liberal constitutionalism, Austrian economics, public choice theory, and institutional analysis, I develop a doctrine of freedom under law. I argue that markets are not merely mechanisms of efficiency, but orders of discovery and correction; that property is not merely possession, but responsibility over scarce means; that the state is both necessary and dangerous; and that free societies decay when citizens forget the disciplines that made liberty possible.

Oikonism does not defend naïve individualism, crony capitalism, or utopian libertarianism. It distinguishes productive profit from political rent, lawful property from privilege, voluntary exchange from corrupted consent, and public authority from administrative domination. It asks not only how wealth is created, but what makes wealth legitimate, humane, and durable.

Across nineteen chapters, the book examines scarcity, freedom, law, property, markets, entrepreneurship, monopoly, inflation, regulation, welfare, family, inequality, environmental limits, constitutional restraint, trade, migration, sovereignty, decline, and the practical demands of government.

This is a book for readers interested in political economy, liberty, constitutionalism, markets, moral philosophy, and the future of Western societies. It is written against both collectivist control and comfortable complacency, arguing that freedom is not a natural default, but a civilizational achievement that must be understood, defended, and renewed.

Oikonism is a doctrine of preservation as much as prosperity: an argument for the legal, moral, and institutional conditions under which free societies remain free.
