This book explores the law and legal system's impact on older persons. It highlights the pivotal role that elder law lawyers play in using that law to challenge and combat ageism effectively. This book will interest researchers of family and social welfare law, elder law and human rights law.
John Williams is Emeritus Professor at Aberystwyth University in Wales. He researches topics related to older persons and the law, including human rights, social care, capacity, abuse and neglect, care home design, relationships and older prisoners. He has spoken at many conferences, appeared on TV and radio to discuss elder abuse, and advised governments and other bodies. John was an expert member of the panel investigating abuse in a care home, for the Commissioner for Older People in Northern Ireland. He works with several charities. John lives with his wife and assorted animals in the middle of a sheep farm in mid-Wales.
