On Maturity: Upbringing, Education and the Recovery of Adulthood (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9780755207374)

The author brings great philosophy from across the ages to the grasp of all who want to reflect and change themselves and their world for the better. With powerful text and many illustrations of inspirational examples, this is a book to treasure. What is human maturity for this global age? has to be just about the most vital and neglected question for today. Experts on upbringing, education and religion are called upon to show us the way to overcome the various destructive forces unleashed by commercial, political and religious institutions. When I was young I determined that one day I would convert the whole world to the faith. But when I was older, I hoped that I might at least convert some people. Now I am an old man, I have but one aim, to convert myself. (-Jewish Rabbi) Dr. Mike Newby taught in schools and universities before retiring to become a chauffeur, estate manager and, latterly, founder of communal gardens in Dorset. He has three daughters and, to date, seven grandchildren. This work is a far-reaching development arising from his first book, Eudaimonia: Happiness is not Enough .
