She earned her Dr. Phil / Ph.D. (2016) in Communication and Media Studies at Freie Universit舩 Berlin and received German Chancellor Fellowship from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2009). Her research interests include Medium Theory, Intercultural Communication, Political Communication and Media History.

Jinying Liao is Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication. Sichuan International Studies University, China. She earned her Doctor of Arts/D.A (2016) in Renmin University of China.Her research interests include Medium Theory, cultural studies and communication theory.She has published a number of papers in Chinese Journal of Journalism & Communication，Modern communication and other journals, and a book named The Essence of Films：From the Perspective of Walter Benjamin's Media Technology.
