The author was commissioned in the United Stated Marine Corps following graduation from the Naval Academy in 1968. He served for 27 years of active duty including the Vietnam War and the 1st Gulf War, retiring with the rank of Colonel. Following military service, the author served as Chief of Staff, and later Assistant Director of Management and Logistics at NCIS. He holds academic degrees of MS in Personnel Management and an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies. His personal decorations include two awards of the Bronze Star with Combat "V," the Legion of Merit, two awards of the Meritorious Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
