In the Once Lands, a lineage of sorcerous wayfinders work to keep godlike monstrosities locked behind the crumbling walls of cursed cities by allowing the vengeful ghosts of forest gods to inhabit their living flesh. The newest standalone book set in the Shared World series, by award-winning creators J. Gillespie and GMB Chomichuk, deepens the supernatural lore of this Lovecraftian dark fantasy realm where ancient powers linger and clutch at the hearts of heroes. Through whispering tomes, cursed gems, dreams, and prophecies, they make promises to the unwary and feed the hunger of fell desire. Even heroes must be wary that quest and company do not serve alien interests in a wax face. The stories of Once Lands both stand on their own and build, one to the other, for a novel where each chapter introduces new inconsistencies and complexities and makes us question the motivation of the characters telling the stories. Could they have a strange agenda inside of their secret hearts?
