This, my first children's book, is inspired by heartfelt conversations with my grandchildren and my work exploring the values that build benevolent communities. This story grew from a shared wish: that the world might root itself in humanity to build a kinder society.

The lyrical story has parable qualities and begins when a dark cloud drifts over a small town, a group of friends notices that fear has begun to take hold. By standing together, the children remember the light within-the hope, kindness, and care that can lift the darkness and light a new way.

Through courage and shared humanity, the children discover that living with kindness and harmony, and joining together can brighten their community's spirit-and the world-beginning with BENE - the simple act of wishing another well.
