OpBat: Screednplay & Synopsis (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798177473666)

A sunken patrol boat. A brother lost at sea. And a trail of cocaine money that leads all the way to the top.

Off Great Inagua, a Bahamian patrol boat stops a Cuban fishing trawler for poaching. Minutes later, Cuban MiGs come out of a clear sky, sink the ship, and strafe the survivors in the water. Among the dead is Able Seaman William Striker, on his very first patrol.

His older brother, Commander Neil Striker, a decorated former U.S. Navy SEAL who went on to head the Royal Bahamas Defence Force's commando unit, has spent the last year running a dive lodge in the Exumas after pushing too hard against corruption in his own government. Now the Americans and the Bahamians need him back. Satellite images show a hidden Cuban installation on remote Cay Sal, a transshipment point for Colombian cocaine run by General Ramon Perez, the most ruthless officer in Castro's army.

Striker has fourteen days to train a strike force, one night to hit the island, and no idea who in Nassau is feeding Perez his secrets. Assassins are already at his door.

OpBaT takes its name from the real-life joint drug-interdiction program between the United States, the Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. Written in the early 1990s, as the Soviet Union's collapse left Cuba hungry for hard currency, it moves from Nassau's corridors of power to a Miami hotel sting, a commando raid by night, and a showdown on the open sea.

This edition presents the complete, previously unproduced feature screenplay by Verland T Whipple and Cordell P Knowles, followed by a full plot synopsis.
