Open Hands: Faith, Work, and Generosity in the Life of Steve Wilson (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798173805058)

Steve Wilson built a company, released it, and gave while he was still alive to see the fruit.

Open Hands is the story of a former Associated Press correspondent who came to faith in a Bradenton prayer meeting, opened a self-storage business in the same season, and spent the next fifty years refusing to separate work from discipleship. It is not a monument. It is an invitation: to hold business, money, influence, and the last season of life with open hands.

Drawn from exclusive interviews, Chris McDaniel follows Wilson from Indiana and Tokyo to Hide-Away Storage, succession, Calcutta, Hope Village, and a classroom in his eighties. Along the way the book names panic as well as fruit, limits as well as generosity, and the quiet decision that held it all together: if God is good, the closed hand is not prudence. It is unbelief.

Readers will find:

• A true account of faith joined to entrepreneurship over five decades
• A picture of succession that does not clutch
• Giving practiced while living, including the work that became Hope Village
• Reflection questions for business owners, families, and peer groups
• An honest man still learning at eighty

"This book matters because Steve did not separate the prayer meeting from the construction site, or the balance sheet from the poor." - Buck Jacobs, Founder, C12
