Oratories: Catholic University of America Canon Law Studies (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025882901)

"Oratories" is a meticulous scholarly examination of the ecclesiastical laws governing private, semi-public, and public places of worship within the Catholic Church. Written as a contribution to the "Canon Law Studies" series, this work provides a comprehensive analysis of the legal status, establishment, and regulation of these sacred spaces according to the 1917 Code of Canon Law.

The author, Aloysius H. Feldhaus, explores the canonical requirements for the consecration and blessing of oratories, as well as the specific privileges and restrictions associated with their use. The text addresses vital questions regarding the celebration of Mass, the administration of sacraments, and the rights of the faithful within these structures. By tracing the historical development of church legislation from early Christian practices to contemporary regulations, the work offers deep insight into how the Church organizes its places of prayer.

This volume serves as an essential resource for canonists, church historians, and researchers interested in the intersection of liturgical practice and ecclesiastical governance. "Oratories" remains a significant reference for understanding the legal framework that supports the devotional life of the Catholic community.
