This is Jan Barber's first published book. She does not profess to be a writer but has felt for years the need to tell this story. Jan grew up just across the alley from the jail house in Cuero, Texas where Monk Gibson spent his final days. Ms. Barber is a retired teacher with a Master's Degree in Reading. She taught art and elementary education in Texas in Cuero and in Yorktown before moving to Arizona where she spent a number of years teaching special education. Jan currently lives in Globe, Arizona but returns to Cuero often to visit her five children and three grandchildren. Ms. Barber is also recognized for her drawings and paintings of historical buildings, landscapes and portraits.
