Out of the Night (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781417997220)

Out of the Night is a memoir written by Jan Valtin, a former member of the Communist Party of Germany and the Soviet Union's intelligence agency, the Comintern. The book details Valtin's experiences as a revolutionary in Europe during the interwar period, his involvement in various Communist organizations, and his eventual disillusionment with the Communist movement. Valtin recounts his time as a smuggler for the Comintern, his participation in the German Revolution of 1918, and his work as a spy in China and the United States. He also describes his time in prison and the torture he endured at the hands of the Gestapo. The book is notable for its vivid descriptions of revolutionary activities and its insider perspective on the workings of Communist organizations. It has been praised for its honesty and its portrayal of the harsh realities of political extremism. Out of the Night is a compelling read for anyone interested in the history of Communism and the radical politics of the 20th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
