Sean Foster is a college student who had dreams of teaching--but those dreams ended when he was sentenced to twenty years in prison. To make matters worse, he has to serve his sentence on a planet far from Earth. Sean is resigned to his fate ... but it may not be what he expected: the prison ship is destroyed and he's the only survivor, rescued by the mysterious crew of the spaceship Outsider. Although he and the crew know little about each other, they agree to team up to investigate why the prison ship was attacked. Sean will soon regret his decision: Outsider crashes near a secluded colony and everyone aboard is taken prisoner by a sinister man whose colony hides some dark secrets. Can Sean and the crew escape to solve the mystery, or will they share the same deadly fate?

Diane McCallum was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. She earned her college degree at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, which is also where she met her future husband. After spending a few years in New Hampshire, they now live in southeastern Kansas, where Diane's husband is a university professor. Diane works a cubicle job but tries to compensate for that by writing in her spare time. Novels are a relatively new addition to her repertoire, but she likes having room to stretch so she's thinking of writing more of them. Stay tuned!
