Overcomer: God's Love Through the Eyes of a Rebel (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798234115164)

He spent forty years looking for God... and forty years looking in all the wrong places.

Michael Amstutz-Washburn was raised to believe God was a lot like his father: rough, distant, impossible to please. So he stopped looking up and started looking everywhere else. He chased meaning through philosophy and performance, through a marriage that quietly took his voice, through a business he poured a decade into... right up until the 2008 crash leveled it and left him standing in the rubble with nothing left to hide behind.

Then came the longest loss of all. A woman he had promised to fight for, slipping away by inches, while he held on and prayed to a God he wasn't even sure was listening.

By the time he was forty-two, Michael had run out of road. Out of strategies, out of strength, out of versions of himself to try on. And that, it turned out, was exactly the point.

Overcomer is the unguarded story of what a man finds when he finally reaches the end of himself. It isn't a highlight reel, and it isn't a formula. It's the honest account of a Father who had been standing at the door the whole time... waiting for the moment His son had nothing left to offer but surrender.

In these pages you'll walk through:

• A childhood that taught him all the wrong things about love, and how God slowly un-taught them
• The marriage, the collapse, and the long goodbye that stripped him down to the studs
• The night the end of himself became the beginning of everything
• How God doesn't tear down what's broken and start over... He remodels it

This is a book for the person who's been told to just be stronger and is worn out from trying. For anyone still carrying old wounds, old agreements, old labels worn so long they feel like skin. It's for the overcomer who hasn't figured out yet that overcoming was never about getting stronger... it was about Who showed up when the strength ran out.

Raw, unhurried, and anchored in Scripture, Overcomer doesn't ask you to have it all together. It meets you right where the pretending stops.

With a foreword by Daniel Amstutz.
