He published more than 240 original works, including 22 books, among them the Catálogo de las Plantas Vasculares de la Argentina, Catálogo de las Plantas Vasculares del Cono Sur, and 16 volumes of Flora Argentina. Among his distinctions are: Senior Scientist of the Missouri Botanical Garden; Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Córdoba, 2002; Diploma of Merit Konex Foundation, for having been designated one of the five figures in Science and Technology in the discipline of Botany, Buenos Aires, 2003; Member of the National Academy of Science of Argentina, 2014; Member of the American Society of Plant Taxonomists, International Association of Plant Taxonomists and Corresponding Member of the Botanical Society of America.
