Parenting Starts Before Conception: Breaking the Cycle of Childhood Trauma from the Very Beginning

Parenting doesn't begin with a child's first cry - it begins long before.

Before the pregnancy test. Before the nursery. Even before the decision to try.

This book explores a powerful idea: the most important preparation for parenthood happens within the parent.

Drawing on personal experience, cultural reflection, and insights into childhood development,

Joey Cao reveals how the legacy we pass on to our children is not only genetic - it is emotional, relational, and spiritual.

Through powerful stories and practical reflections, Parenting Starts Before Conception helps you:

• Recognize the generational patterns you inherited - and how to break them.
• Cultivate emotional maturity and self-awareness before becoming a parent.
• Build a partnership with your spouse or co-parent that models safety, love, and respect.
• Redefine parenting as leadership - preparing a child not just to grow, but to thrive.
• Understand that your patterns, energy, and way of being are the true inheritance you leave behind.

Joey wrote this book after witnessing how childhood trauma can take years - even decades - to heal.

One day, a life-changing question emerged:

What if we could stop the cycle from the very beginning?

That question gave birth to this book.

Whether you are considering becoming a parent, preparing for pregnancy, or simply doing the inner work before raising the next generation,

this book offers a thoughtful path toward clarity and readiness.

Because bringing a child into the world is not only a biological act -

it is the beginning of a legacy.
