D. Bruce Howell, an Oklahoma resident for the past 48 years and a retired educator, moved to the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees in 1996. His previous publications relating to the history of Northeastern Oklahoma include two volumes of stories entitled Echoes From the Past and a chronological history, 1806: The Exploration and Settlement of the Cherokee Nation in Indian Territory.
