Pauperism, Charity, & Poor Laws: Being An Inquiry Into The Present State Of The Poorer Classes In The Metropolis, The Resources And Effects Of Charity (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781274771681)

"Pauperism, Charity, & Poor Laws" by Joshua Harrison Stallard offers a detailed inquiry into the state of the poorer classes in London during the 19th century. Stallard examines the resources and effects of charitable organizations, and critically analyzes the influence of the Poor Law system on providing relief. This study provides valuable insights into the social and economic conditions of the time. The book further includes suggestions for an improved administration of poor relief, making it a significant historical document for understanding social welfare policies and their impact on urban populations. This work is essential for scholars interested in social history, urban studies, and the development of welfare systems.
