As a result of complications at birth, I have cerebral palsy. It has caused a severe speech impediment, and I can use my right arm only marginally. So, I know something of what it is like to suffer in this world. At the same time, I benefited from having good parents. I was taught that it is important to love yourself the way the Lord made you. I have never blamed God for the circumstances of my life. Though my life has not been easy, I feel that I have been truly blessed. After reflecting on the deaths of my father, my sister, and my aunt--all within a short period of time--I felt inspired to write.
