Dr. Richard Cox has earned doctor's degrees in medicine, psychology, and theology and a lifetime of extensive education in music (piano/pipe organ/trumpet). He has performed nationally and internationally and presented and conducted at the National Trumpet Competition, The International Trumpet Guild, the Association of Concert Bands, Interlochen Center for the Arts, colleges and universities and continues to play trumpet with local groups. He studied and has been mentored on trumpet with Renold Schilke, Wesley Hanson, Ron Modell, Frank Kaderabek, and Bill Adam, as well as many other great teachers and performers. He is the author of several books on music performance, and has published original compositions and arrangements for brass, piano, and organ, and is an Artist, Conn-Selmer Inc. He is most noted for working with musicians who face physical and emotional challenges and for his presentations for overcoming stage fright. He is currently a faculty member at Duke University Medical School and Affiliate Scholar, Pelligrino Center for Clinical BioEthics, Georgetown University.
