xDr. Thompson Reece's degrees include a BA in Biology and PhD in Physiology awarded by the California State University and the University of California, respectively. She began her scientific career in basic research at the San Diego Zoo in 1981. Her teaching experience in the classroom and in the research laboratory includes college students from freshman level to PhD candidates. In the classroom she teaches college level courses in physiology, anatomy, genetics, biochemistry, and cell biology. In addition to her experience in teaching, she was a laboratory scientist in academic medicine for 18 years and a chief scientific officer in biotechnology for 5 years. Presently she manages her own consulting company located in Manlius, NY. Her business sponsors an anatomy and physiology educational website, www.medicalsciencenavigator.com, focused upon helping students who struggle to learn these sciences. Physiology: Custom-designed Chemistry was published as an e-book in December, 2012. It is her first single author book. It is also the first of a planned series titled, "What is Physiology?" The series is designed to provide college students who have no experience with supporting sciences such at chemistry and physics the information they need to study life science efficiently. Her professional memberships include the National Science Teachers Association, The Endocrine Society, and the American Association for Cancer Research, the Society for Study of Reproduction and the American Association for the Advancement of Science
