Included are songs with playing instructions and Phyllis' own adapted notation showing the authentic playing style of the Galax dulcimer. History and construction as well as some of the artists who defined this style are also included.

All songs in this book assume that all strings are tuned to D. Songs noted below as D tunes have the "Do" starting at fret zero. Songs noted below as G tunes have the "Do" starting at fret three. Songs noted below as A tunes have the "Do" starting at fret four, and recommend that you use a partial capo (drone strings only) at fret one. Songs noted below as E minor tunes have the "Do" starting at fret one, and suggest either tuning the drone strings to E's, or using a partial capo at fret one. (Phyllis talks about how to make a partial capo - false nut - on page nineteen of her book "A Job Of Journey Work".)

Instructions are also included for playing these songs in DAD tuning.
