"Plato in the Mountains, It's All Greed (not Greek) to Me," is a modern take on the allegory of the cave in Plato's Republic. Fear to face the light beyond shadow-land comes alive above closed coalmines in the Rocky Mountains. The greed of developers, realtors and some politicians, who want to create new subdivisions in a former wildlife corridor, is connected to the abduction of the mayor's grand-daughter and the murder of a native woman. Damian Platonovich (Plato) investigates with the RCMP in his childhood town of Calder. Ursula Tillmann's novel is a philosophical suspense thriller. In the center of the investigation is the Taylor family, which runs the community like its own private enterprise. But would they commit such heinous crimes to secure their wealth? Plato is confronted with his own past before justice can prevail.
