Childhood exposure to the rhyme and meter of poets like Poe and Longfellow gave me a lifelong love for poetry. I retired as an RN in 2015 and have been a pastor ministering to seniors for over 20 years. These callings have been special to me, but the one I've felt most deeply throughout my life has been this creative call to write poetry.This is my fifth book of poems, some previously unpublished but most written between 2013-2016. For me, poetic composition has been like preaching prophetic burdens. Both with sermons and poems, I learn more in composing them than I can ever convey through pulpit or pen. So, in sending forth this poetic collection of insights and epiphanies (mixed with a few verses of witty humor), I can only hope the Holy Spirit uses them to inspire and enlighten my readers as He has blessed their author through writing them.

David L. Hatton is an ordained Wesleyan minister with a BA in Bible from Maranatha Baptist Bible College (1972) and an MA in Cross-Cultural Studies from New College Berkeley (1988). Before becoming an RN in 1981, he served with Gospel Outreach in California and with Jeunesse en Mission (YWAM) in Quebec. He retired after 34 years of nursing in 2015, having worked in the ER but spending his last 24 years helping moms deliver babies in L&D. David still pastors the small church of seniors he started in a retirement community in 1996. His hobbies are writing, art, and gentle hiking with his wife Rosemary, with whom he lives in Sacramento, California. Married in 1971, they have 12 children and a growing number of grandchildren.
